The COMMON SENSE project will contribute to support the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and other EU policies (e.g. Common Fisheries Policy), providing easily usable across several platforms, cost-effective, multi-functional innovative sensors to detect reliable in-situ measurements on key parameters by means of methodological standards. This proposal will focus, by means of a multidisciplinary and well-balanced consortium on eutrophication, contaminants, marine litter and underwater noise descriptors of the MSFD.
LEITAT’s role in the project: leader of the task of analyzing current and comprehensive understanding of in-situ ocean observing systems and EU legislation, especially EU instruments.
WP2: Review and analysis of existing sensors and related initiatives currently set and working in marine environment;. Search for Existing deficiencies. LEITAT is on of the researchers of “new generation” technologies in order to obtain cost-effective sensors for large scale production.
WP6: participation in the design of a methodology and specification and also participation in the creation of Precompetitive prototypes and system implementation and testing methodology.
WP9: participant of Platforms sensor deployment and testing activities
