The continuous increase of air passenger transport generates an increasing use of hydrocarbon fuel with excessive emission of CO2 and NOX (greenhouse gases, pollutants and noise). It is well known that commercial aircraft operations impact the atmosphere by the emissions of greenhouse gases and greenhouse gas precursors, and also through the formation of contrails and cirrus clouds.

 

LEITAT’s role in the project:

  • WP1 LEITAT contributes by providing information on current and emerging trends in the following topics:  Harvesters devices (PV, Thermoelectric, motion…) and power management systems.  Modeling and Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms.  Energy storage devices (supercapacitors, lithium-ion, lithium-air batteries) and battery management systems. Power management systems for fuel cells.  Ionic Liquids technologies for supporting biomass-to-fuel conversion.  Thin film devices for energy generation and storage manufactured by printing processes (screen printing, inkjet).

 

  • WP3: LEITAT will contribute by providing information on current and emerging trends in the following topics:  Surface treatments on fibers: chemical methods such as acetylation, ozonation or enzymatic treatment, and physical methods such as corona discharge or plasta treatments. Life Cycle Assessment: environmental impact of bio-sourced materials and its processing. Bio-sourced fibers: hemp fibers, pineapple leaf fibers. Bio-based resins: thermosetting and thermoplastic resins, bio-sourced additives. Design and simulation in composite materials: advanced simulation and virtual testing.
