The main objective of this research proposal is to identify and elaborate those characteristics of ENM that determine their biological hazard potential. This potential includes the ability of ENM to induce damage at the cellular, tissue, or organism levels by interacting with cellular structures leading to impairment of key cellular functions.

LEITAT’s role in the project:

  • Support on Task 4.1 Identification of the main transformation/ release processes during the life cycle of the ENMs included in the project; Task 4.2 Simulation of the most relevant life cycle stages of different nanoproducts containing the ENMs selected; Task 4.4 Establishment of a methodology to extrapolate impact factors for human and environmental health on the basis of the hazard tool
  • Resposible of Task 4.3: Evaluation/simulation of all relevant life cycle stages of a nanoproduct containing one of the ENMs selected
